Swenson May Results

So, this year we finally are able to plant a garden. We didn't really know how to begin seeing as how we have no tools to start a garden with ie: rototiller, sod cutter, things like that. Well after talking to a few friends we decided to do raised garden beds. Supposedly there are many benefits to this kind of garden. You can plant closer together, there are almost no weeds to pull, you never have to rototill, and the dirt is the perfect mixture. Each of the kids got to have their own garden bed and choose which vegetables to plant. All together we planted peas, beans, cucumber, zucchini, radishes, carrots, onions, 5 kinds of peppers, watermelon, cantaloupe, 4 kinds of tomatoes, 2 kinds of pumpkins, 4 kinds of squash, spinach, broccoli, and some flowers. We planted a bit late but it was good since it froze after Mother's Day. We have had a ton of rain and wind and my plants are looking a little sad, but hopefully they will survive and produce well!

  1. Wow, that's a lot of stuff for those boxes. The plants must be REALLY close together! You do realize that pumpkins, watermelon, squash and cucumbers really spread out, right? I'm excited to see it all soon!
